Ruffian is located in New York’s East Village, a safe haven for the artsy free thinkers. Here, I worked with mostly Eastern European wines, with a heavy influence on skin-contact white wine…or as the kids say “Orange” wines. Though, we had something for everyone. When I was wearing the triple crown of restaurants, working as Wine Director, General Manager, and Events Director, we had just crept out of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. At this time, we worked off digital menu, which allowed me to add in some witty one-liners in hopes to describe the already-hard-to-pronounce wines. The food menu at the time was vegetarian and vegan. Vegetables never tasted so good. Below are some screenshots of the by the glass program at the time.
